January 2014 Recognitions by the Board of Education

Exxon Mobile honored by Board Representatives of Exxon Mobile-Olathe Grease Plant were thanked for their business partnership with Indian Trail Middle School and Olathe South High School.
Jessie Payne is honored Olathe Northwest High School gymnast Jessie Payne was congratulated for earning the 6A state title in three events: all-around, vault and uneven parallel bars.
Staff in the e-Communication program Staff of the e-Communication program, and Olathe Northwest High School Assistant Principal Jay Novacek were recognized for the program being named an Apple Distinguished Program.
Olathe North's Battle of the Brains team Olathe North High School Principal David Morford and instructors Rhonda Reist and Amy Johnston joined the school's "Tapped Out" Battle of the Brains team for recognition at the meeting.
Olathe East's Battle of the Brains team Olathe East High School's Battle of the Brains team, along with instructor Barbara Nikoo-Manesh and Principal Bill Weber were recognized by the board.
Erik Erazo is honored Erik Erazo, Olathe North High School Hispanic student advisor, was recognized as the recipient of the City of Olathe Human Relations Commission 2013 Educators Award. He was joined by Director of Instructional Support Programs Jan Heinen and Principal David Morford.
Teachers earning National Board Certification 

Three Olathe educators received National Board Certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, and three others had their certification renewed.
