Texas Roadhouse business partner

Superintendent Marlin Berry and board member Amy Martin thanked representatives from Texas Roadhouse restaurant for their support of the district as a business partner. The restaurant has hosted a fundraiser lunch for the Retired Employees Association, sponsored dining out evenings for Sunnyside Elementary School, and also supported high school activities. Community Liaison Heather Schoonover (far right), Retired Employees Association representative Marsha Stoker and Sunnyside Principal David Kearney (third from left) participated in the recognition of Texas Roadhouse.

Nancy Smith recognition Representatives from the Wendell G. Mohling Foundation joined Science Coordinator Julie Miller (far right) and Bentwood Elementary School Principal Cathy McDonald (second from right) in congratulating Bentwood first-grade teacher on receiving the foundation's award. Smith received a $500 scholarship to attend the National Science Teachers Association Conference.
Megan Wendleton recognition

Megan Wendleton, art teacher at California Trail Middle School, was selected by the Kansas Art Educators Association as the Outstanding Middle School Art Educator for 2015-16. She was joined at the board meeting by Fine Arts Coordinator Martha Gabel and California Trail Principal Mike Wiley.

The Northeast Kansas Music Educators Association named four Olathe educators as recipients of their Outstanding Educator of the Year honor.  Honorees, from left, are Sherry Wann, California Trail Middle School, Outstanding Middle School Orchestra Educator of the Year; Gretchen Harrison, Frontier Trail Middle School, Outstanding Middle School Choral Educator of the Year; Eric Griffin, Mission Trail Middle School, Outstanding Middle School Band Educator of the Year; and Greg Ferguson, Olathe South High School, Outstanding High School Orchestra Educator of the Year. They were joined by, from far right, Olathe South Principal Phil Clark, Frontier Trail Principal Rod Smith, Mission Trail Principal Rachelle Waters, California Trail Principal Mike Wiley and Fine Arts Coordinator Martha Gabel.
