Graduates to Present at June Board Meeting

May 30, 2017 ~ Two recent graduates of Olathe schools will showcase their learning at the June 1 Board of Education meeting which starts at 6 p.m. in the Education Center, 14160 Black Bob Road, Olathe.

Both graduates participated in 21st Century Academies at their respective schools and were required to have a capstone project that demonstrated the culmination of their learning over the four years of their academy.

A second presentation to the board will focus on action in the Kansas Legislature, specifically action that impacts the school district.

Several students and staff will be recognized for their recent achievements, and the board will honor five organizations that served as community partners on mental health and emotional wellness initiatives.

Action items include a consent agenda of routine topics, nearly two dozen bids and contracts, student trips, textbook and instructional materials, transportation safety variances, a special board meeting, board policy revisions, memorandum of understanding between the district and area law enforcement agencies, and revisions to the Code of Student Conduct. Board members will receive information about future action items as well as two written reports.

An executive session is scheduled so board members can discuss personnel matters, consult with the board's attorney, discuss employer-employee negotiations, and discuss matters involving a student.
