Board Begins New Fiscal Year with Meeting

July 10, 2017 ~ The Olathe Board of Education will officially kick off the 2017-18 fiscal year on Thursday evening, July 13. Their first regular meeting of the year begins at 6 p.m. in the Education Center, 14160 Black Bob Road, Olathe.

First on the agenda is the election of board president and vice president. Board members will also appoint a clerk, deputy clerk, treasurer and attorney.

The board will take action on a consent agenda including various reports, a student trip, petty cash and activity funds, 1,116-hour policy, inclement weather days, official newspaper, and other routine items normally handled in the first meeting of the new fiscal year.

Public comments will be taken at 6:30 p.m. instead of the regular 7 p.m. time.

The agenda also includes the school resource officer agreement, contract with Assisted Student Transportation Services, traffic signal agreement for Middle School 10, and an architectural-engineering proposal for middle school entry expansion and renovation projects. The board will also set its regular meeting dates and times, and make board appointments to various district committees and state organizations.

The board will receive information on several future action items ranging from textbooks to student trips.

An executive session is planned so the board may discuss personnel matters, consult with their attorney, and discuss employer-employee negotiations.
