Family Day is Joint Event for Schools, City

Sept. 5, 2017 ~ During their regular monthly meeting on Sept. 7, members of the Olathe Board of Education will hear the details of Family Day, a joint event of the Olathe Public Schools and City of Olathe. This is one of two presentations on the board's agenda for the 6 p.m. meeting in the Education Center.

Deputy Superintendent Alison Banikowski will introduce Angela Epps as the new coordinator of 21st Century Academies during the second presentation to the board. They will also review facility enhancements for some of the academies and new facilities for the two newest academies.

The board will recognize nearly 70 Presidential Service Award-winners who participate in the district's Volunteers Serving Schools program, a state swimming champion, and the district's spelling bee winner.

In addition to a consent agenda of routine items, the board will act on a handful of bids, contracts and agreements. Board members will also receive information on a dozen future action items ranging from student trips to curriculum.

Two written reports — Facility Usage annual report and Head Start director's report — will be shared with the board.

An executive session is planned so the board can discuss employer-employee negotiations.
