Helping Parents Engage in the IEP Process

Sept. 12, 2017 ~ The Olathe Public Schools Special Services Site Council will host a free seminar for parents of students with special education needs. "Road Map to the IEP Process: How Parents Can Engage in a Meaningful Way" is the topic of the Thursday, Sept. 14 meeting which begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Instructional Resource Center, 14090 Black Bob Road, Olathe.

Members of the special education leadership team with Olathe Public Schools will provide useful suggestions to help parents understand the IEP process. Learning about the annual IEP meeting and how to actively participate is important for the benefit of the child.

The next session will be Oct. 12. The topic is "It Takes a Village: Social Outlets and Supports for Students with Intellectual Disabilities Beyond the Classroom Walls."
