John Allison Named as Kansas Superintendent of the Year Finalist

Oct. 6, 2017 ~ The Kansas School Superintendents Association (KSSA) announced that Olathe Public Schools Superintendent John Allison has been named as one of three finalists for the 2018 KSSA Superintendent of the Year award.

Allison began working for the Olathe School District this July after previously serving as superintendent of Wichita Public Schools since 2009. During Allison's tenure in Wichita, the district saw an unprecedented graduation rate increase of 19.3 percent.

Immediate past president of the Olathe Public Schools Board of Education Rich Schier shared that when Olathe was searching for their next leader, the board was looking for an individual with a student-first philosophy, strong leadership skills, excellent people skills and a strong communicator. The board found all of these qualities in Allison.

Justin Henry, superintendent of the Goddard School District, and Glenn Suppes, superintendent of Smoky Valley Public Schools, are the other two finalists nominated.
